To promote the subject of Psychiatry and allied sciences in all their different branches

To promote mental health of the people in the South Asian region

To promote Mental health education in this region

To contribute to the prevention of mental disorders

To protect the rights of the mentally ill

To promote the highest ethical standards in clinical practice

To encourage research in mental health in South Asia

To foster co-operation at all levels between the countries of the federation

To enhance international understanding and collaboration in mental health

SPF holds conferences and periodical scientic meetings of the Federation

Publish annual reports of the federation and special bulletins

Advise the respective governments and other bodies on the various aspects of psychiatry and mental health
including legislative, administrative, educational and research aspects

To promote the co-operation between the professionals and other bodies in the advancement of medical and others sciences including joining other international societies and forums as institutional or corporate member

To collect subscriptions and donations, disburse funds for all or any of the subjects of the federation

Do all such things and matters as are incidental or conducive to the attainment of the above objectives or any of
them which are subsidiary to the said objective
